I havenít found much about this incident other than 4 officer, from I believe SFPD though they may have been county? Stopped a ~250 lbs female Siberian Tiger with their 40 caliber service pistols.

Curious about what load they might have been using, from reports Iíve read sounds like the officers did very well under difficult circumstances (dusk/night time lots of confusion etc).

Tiger was hit twice in head and 4 times in chest from what Iíve read, though not claiming "news" reports are accurate.

Thatís what I suspected, Iíve thought for long time the 40 S&W wasnít bad choice for people that might need to deal with either crooks or critters since the 38-40 virtually identical seemed to do so in the past.

The load probably wasn't as important as the placement. A couple of 9mm FMJ loads smacked into the cranial structure would likely have done just as well (or .45 hardball). It's hard for any mammal to function when their brain cavity has been solidly whacked.

CNS hits do good things when it comes to stopping bad behavior

There are those who make things happen. There are those who watch things happen. There are those who wonder What The Heck happened! Pick one.

NYPD once killed a polar bear with .38 round nose lead, to the head.
