Argh touch screen typing isn't my forte.

Supposed to read "...would NOT function reliably with hollow points because they were designed around FMJ"

I was under the perhaps mistaken impression that most SMG would function reliably with hollow points because they were designed around FMJ.

Though Evan has mentioned BPLE was used in his departments MP5's.

I recently reread account about gun store owner that used M76 SMG with candy cane load of FMJ & HP to deal with 2 cars worth of would be gun thieves.

Just got me wondering.

The idea of a Thompson with HST has a certain appeal though I'll readily admit an AR is far more practical.

do a little research. Most of the smg's available were designed around fmj ammo

I evidently can't type well with touch screen keyboard on my iPad.

I was trying to say I didn't think SMG would work with hollow points.

Evan mentioning BPLE in the MP5 was only HP use id heard of before the gun store robbery article mentioned above.

Well I think I may have heard something about the newest designs working with HP's but I haven't seen much about SMG.

Never been very interested in SMG's, other than mildly the Thompson, because it's a Thompson, and the 10mm HK SMG because it's a 10mm.
